Program Crashes when you hit the "Microphone Recording Settings" button

Program Crashes when you hit the "Microphone Recording settings" button.

Spelling Test Practice crashed while attempting to update the microphone control in the words page.

Solution:
Upgrade to version 2.6.1 or higher by going to the Try page.

MCI Error
MMSYSTEM275 Cannot find the specified file.

Make sure the path and filename are correct.

Solution:
Make sure there is a "words" directory in "My Documents".
For example:  C:\My Documents\Words

No Sound File Error

No Sound file: .\words\apple.wav found.

Solution:
Make sure there is a "words" directory in "My Documents" and that the missing file is in the words directory.

For example:  C:\My Documents\Words or C:\My Documents\Words\apple.wav

If no "apple.wav" file, record the word again in add/create and save sound file. Then you can cancel without adding the word to the list again.

If you hear just a beep or "windows default sound" and not the spelling word. The sound file is missing for that word. Record the word again in add/create and save sound file. Then you can cancel without adding the word to the list.

Unable To Hear Spelling Word.

*Check volume level.

*Check volume level that the word was recorded at by

My Computer -> Control Panel -> Multimedia -> Audio tab

Click microphone recording button.

Look at level microphone is at.

XP users: My Computer->Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices Click Audio tab Click Volume in Sound recording section Look at level microphone is set at and make sure check by the select box.

*If you hear just a beep or "windows default sound" and not the spelling word. Sound file is missing for that word. Delete the word, and reenter/record it back into spelling list

Unable To Record:

* Try recording with Sound Recorder to make sure that it is possible to record on your computer.

Start Button -> Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Sound Recorder

Or

Start Button -> Run -> type in SNDREC32.EXE


* Check recording settings for Windows by

My Computer -> Control Panel -> Multimedia ->Audio tab

Click microphone recording button

Make sure there is a check mark next to "select" under the Microphone column.

XP users: My Computer->Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices Click Audio tab Click Volume in Sound recording section
